Jelly Roll Breaks Townsville Stadium Attendance Record

US country-rap artist Jelly Roll is set to perform his largest Australian stadium show in Townsville on Thursday night, with organizers expecting at least 20,000 attendees. The concert at the North Queensland Cowboys home stadium marks a milestone for the venue, which opened in 2020 and has increasingly attracted international acts.

Local businesses and fans are celebrating the visit with themed street art, baked goods, and tattoos. Artists Lavinia Letheby and Amanda Sadler created a mural honoring Jelly Roll, working through three nights from Halloween. Tattoo artist Alex Aguilera has inked at least 50 fans with Jelly Roll-themed designs, with more bookings lined up.

Stadium venue manager Cameron Jones said ticket sales are strong, and the show will feature other country artists including Shaboozey. A 48-metre top secret stage has been brought from the south, and the venue is being dressed in an unprecedented way. Jones urged concertgoers to stay hydrated as temperatures are expected to reach 33 degrees Celsius.

The concert is part of a trend of international artists visiting Townsville, which has boosted local business and community spirit. The muralist who painted Jelly Roll also created a mural for P!nk's 2024 concert in the city, highlighting the growing appeal of the region for global acts.
