A 14-year-old girl selling Mother's Day flowers by the roadside in Cardiff has been allegedly robbed in broad daylight. Charlotte Delemare had set up her stall with her dog Honey on Saturday, hoping to bring joy to mothers on Sunday morning.
Charlotte has been selling flowers every Mother's Day for the past six years, starting when she was just eight. Her mother, Melissa Delemare, said Charlotte is already saving for her first house and also works at a local cafe and sells her own candles.
While Charlotte was selling flowers, an opportunistic thief broke into Ms Delemare's mother's vehicle parked nearby and stole a handbag. A good Samaritan alerted Charlotte after seeing a man crouched by the car.
Ms Delemare said the thief took off with her handbag containing cash and membership cards. Charlotte was shocked that the theft occurred so close to her without her noticing. NSW Police confirmed they are investigating a number of car break-ins and thefts in the area.
Despite the incident, Ms Delemare said it will not deter Charlotte from returning next year. Charlotte plans to buy a home at 18 and then a coffee van to travel Australia with her business.
