A four-year-old Sydney girl who lost her hair to alopecia has received a life-changing hair system, thanks to a community fundraising effort. Azaliah Cameron was too scared to attend school after losing her hair, but her situation improved dramatically after strangers rallied to help.
After 7NEWS shared Azaliah's story, more than $16,000 was raised to fund the hair system. The family visited Headcase Hair in Paddington, where Azaliah arrived wearing a frown and a hat but left with hair and a beaming smile.
Hair specialists Jessikha Muhm and Daniella Coulits saw Azaliah's story and offered their services. They created a plaster mould for her future hair system and fitted her with an interim wig for practice. The entire $3,000 process was provided free of charge.
Azaliah's father, Corey Cameron, expressed gratitude, saying, 'Not many people will do that. She’s taken the time to help us and Azaliah. I just want to say thank you to them.' Her mother, Tahni Brannigan, added, 'It’s really great to see all the support. It’s been life-changing for Azaliah.'
When asked about her favorite part of the hair, Azaliah replied, 'It’s curly.' She now has a message for everyone who helped: 'Thank you for everybody for my support.'
