Australian actress Rose Byrne won the Golden Globe for Best Performance by a Female Actor in a Motion Picture — Musical or Comedy for her role in If I Had Legs I'd Kick You. In her acceptance speech, Byrne thanked her team, noting the film was shot in “25 days for like $8.50.” She attended the ceremony with her brother George as her date, while her husband, actor Bobby Cannavale, was reportedly out shopping for a bearded dragon.
Byrne’s win was one of several notable moments for Australians at the 2026 Golden Globes. Fellow Australian Jacob Elordi, nominated for Best Supporting Actor for Frankenstein, lost to Stellan Skarsgård for Sentimental Value. Elordi also missed out on the Limited Series acting award, which went to Stephen Graham for Adolescence. Joel Edgerton, nominated for Best Actor in a Drama, also failed to take home a prize.
The miniseries Adolescence swept all its nominations, winning four awards including acting nods for Owen Cooper, Erin Doherty, and Stephen Graham. Co-creator Jack Thorne dedicated the win to removing hate, calling it “our generation's responsibility.” Paul Thomas Anderson’s One Battle After Another also took four awards, with most wins dedicated to late producer Adam Somner.
In a new category for Best Podcast, Amy Poehler’s Good Hang won, presented by a visibly intoxicated Snoop Dogg. Poehler joked about being inspired to start a podcast after watching “men doing the bare minimum” and took a playful jab at NPR’s Up First. She also found Jeremy Strong’s infamous bucket hat from the 2025 Golden Globes.
Timothée Chalamet won his first Golden Globe for Best Actor in a Musical or Comedy for Marty Supreme, after four previous nominations. In a humble speech, he thanked his partner Kylie Jenner and fellow nominees, including Leonardo DiCaprio and George Clooney, saying, “I’m in a category of many greats, I look up to you.”
