Robert Irwin Vows to Keep Steve Irwin's Legacy Alive with Crocodile Conservation

Robert Irwin has shared a heartfelt tribute to his late father Steve Irwin, vowing to continue the wildlife conservationist's legacy. The 21-year-old, who is currently competing on Dancing With The Stars in the US, took time from rehearsals to highlight his conservation work.

On Tuesday, Irwin posted on Instagram about the importance of crocodiles in the ecosystem, noting that his passion began in childhood, inspired by his father. “This is where my love and fascination of crocodiles began… with my dad,” he wrote. “He taught us all to appreciate all animals, even the less cuddly ones.”

Irwin emphasized that crocodile conservation is central to his work, saying, “Crocodile conservation is at the core of our work together, to keep my dad’s legacy alive.” Steve Irwin, known as The Crocodile Hunter, dedicated his life to studying and protecting crocodiles, developing capture techniques used globally.

Robert’s mother, Terri, commented on the post, expressing pride in her son for continuing his father’s mission. “Crocodiles are among our most important apex predators, and your research, rescue and education work with these saurians is so very important,” she wrote.

Meanwhile, Robert continues to impress on Dancing With The Stars, earning a near-perfect score of 38 out of 40 for his paso doble to Icky Thump by The White Stripes. Judge Bruno Tonioli praised the performance, calling it a “grandiose paso doble.”
