Matilda Bay is set to transform into a scene reminiscent of Monaco as a record 74 Riviera motor yachts gather for the annual Raft Up on Friday. The fleet, collectively worth over $50 million, will form a spectacular horseshoe formation on the river.
R Marine Perth retail sales manager Ryan Lloyd described the event as one of the most anticipated boating events in Western Australia. He noted that only two ways exist to secure a ticket to the Riviera Perth Raft Up, emphasizing its exclusivity.
Lloyd highlighted the social aspect of the gathering, where owners hop between yachts, renewing old friendships and making new ones. He called it a wonderful showcase of the West Australian way of life.
Perth boat enthusiast Adam Burvill will debut his newly purchased Riviera at the event. He timed his purchase specifically to participate, even rearranging his schedule to ensure he could attend. Burvill said he knew he had to get his hands on a Riviera before December to make the Raft Up.
Burvill praised the brand for building a family atmosphere through ongoing social events. He described the experience of walking across the back decks of boats to visit friends, often getting sidetracked by conversations with new people.
Lloyd confirmed that Burvill is not alone in planning a debut at the flotilla. Some owners insist on having their new motor yachts delivered by December 1 specifically to attend the Raft Up in their brand new boats.
