Controversial former celebrity chef Pete Evans has been spotted looking dishevelled again, just a week after his scruffy appearance made headlines. The ex-My Kitchen Rules judge was seen shirtless and barefoot while shopping at Cabarita Beach, wearing only tracksuit pants and clutching a small paper bag from a local butcher.
His ratty hair was slicked back under a baseball cap promoting his now-sold Evolve Sanctuary, with a few strands of his blonde mullet peeping out. The soles of his feet appeared dirty and black, suggesting he rarely wears shoes.
The sighting comes shortly after the sale of his luxury Byrrill Creek retreat, Evolve Sanctuary. The 7.9-hectare rainforest estate was initially listed for $3.6 million and sold in October for an undisclosed amount after a lengthy sales campaign.
Evans and his wife Nicola Robinson purchased the property, about an hour's drive from Byron Bay, for around $1 million in 2020. They transformed it into a health retreat focusing on wellness and holistic experiences, featuring a main residence, guest cabins, a pilates studio, a magnesium pool, and a meditation room.
The sale included a leasing option allowing Evans to continue running the business if the new owners wished to keep him as a partner, though it is unclear if this has occurred. Evans has faced public backlash in recent years over controversial health advice, including views on vaccines and baby formula, which he blames on his advocacy for paleo and ancestral diets.
