ABC Radio Perth has announced that Oliver 'Oly' Peterson will take over the Drive program in 2026. Peterson, an award-winning journalist and broadcaster, currently hosts Perth LIVE on 6PR Radio.
Peterson began his career as a cadet in the ABC Perth newsroom and has spent nearly two decades in news and current affairs. His reporting has covered major events including the execution of the Bali Nine ringleaders and the discovery of Cleo Smith in Carnarvon.
ABC Radio Perth manager Danielle Benda praised Peterson's experience and energy. 'Oly has great energy and a deep knowledge of Perth and our concerns and issues,' she said. Peterson expressed enthusiasm for returning to the ABC and engaging with listeners through talkback.
Peterson replaces current Drive presenter Gary Adshead, who announced in October that he would step down at the end of the year.
