Kylie Minogue was seen in London this week, days after the release of her Netflix documentary revealing she battled cancer for a second time in 2021. The 56-year-old singer kept the diagnosis private until now, sharing the news in the final episode of the three-part series titled Kylie.
In the documentary, Minogue says she wanted to exorcise her secret cancer struggle through song, hiding it in plain sight on the track Story from her 2023 album Tension. She also discusses her 2005 breast cancer diagnosis, which forced her to cancel a world tour and a headlining slot at Glastonbury.
Minogue reveals she postponed chemotherapy to undergo IVF 'a number of times', but was unable to have children. The experience is reflected in her 2012 song Flower, which she describes as a 'letter to what might have been'.
The documentary also covers her grief over late INXS frontman Michael Hutchence, her career reinventions, and the misogynistic media backlash she faced. Despite the challenges, Minogue bounced back with the 2023 viral hit Padam Padam, which earned her first ARIA and Grammy awards in 20 years.
