Kesha Neve, a 21-year-old singing skier from Jindabyne, New South Wales, has been crowned the 2026 Australian Idol after a live grand finale on Tuesday night. She defeated Queensland's 18-year-old Harlan Goode in an Origin-style showdown, performing a supersized version of her audition song, 'Die With A Smile' by Lady Gaga and Bruno Mars.
Judge Amy Shark praised Neve as the 'most talented, coolest chick I’ve seen on Idol so far.' The public vote secured Neve the title, along with $100,000 in prize money and an exclusive recording package with Hive Sound Studios. She also becomes the first female winner of Idol in 19 years, since Natalie Gauci in 2007.
In an emotional interview, Neve expressed shock and gratitude, saying, 'I never thought it would be me.' She thanked fans and plans to immediately enter the studio to record music. One of her most special Idol moments was performing with her father, a musician she describes as the most genuine artist she knows.
Additional prizes include a songwriting camp with Sony Music Publishing, marketing support from The Annex, and VIP tickets to the ARIA Awards and TV WEEK Logie Awards. The top three was reduced to two after Kalani, a 23-year-old landscaper from the central coast of New South Wales, was eliminated.
