Shellharbour City Council and Kiama Municipal Council have announced a full schedule of events for Australia Day on January 26, 2026. The celebrations will include breakfasts, live music, family activities, and award ceremonies across multiple locations.
Shellharbour's Breakfast by the Lake will run from 7am to 12pm, offering $4 breakfasts, live music, stalls, and free children's activities. The council will present the Citizen Award (for those over 25) and the Young Citizen Award (for those under 25). Performers include Lizzie Bennett, Dear Violet, Kay Proudlove, and Young Monks. The Australia Day Ambassador is Annabelle Williams, a gold medal-winning, world record-holding competitive swimmer and legal counsel for the Australian Olympic Committee.
Shellharbour Mayor Marianne Saliba encouraged residents to attend, saying, “This is always such a popular event on Council’s calendar. It’s a great opportunity to connect with others in our community and have fun with the family.”
In Kiama, celebrations begin at 7am at Old School Park in Gerringong, Kiama Downs’ Jones Beach, and Coronation Park in Kiama, with Jamberoo’s event at Kevin Walsh Oval starting at 8am. Bacon and egg breakfasts will be available at each location. Gerringong will feature a jumping castle, face painting, giant jenga, dominoes, live music, novelty games, and African drumming workshops, along with the Australia Day Awards and citizenship ceremony at 8.30am.
Kiama Downs will host novelty games, a sand modelling competition, prize giveaways, a jumping castle, and a flag raising. Kiama’s event includes live music, a jumping castle, face painting, beach volleyball, and prize giveaways. Jamberoo offers live music, face painting, novelty games, friendly Aussie sports matches, and prize giveaways.
