Barefoot Man Chases Alleged Fuel Thief Twice On Gold Coast

A Gold Coast man has captured the moment he chased off an alleged fuel thief while barefoot in the middle of the night. James Longstaff, 23, was editing video at his Molendinar business when he spotted someone siphoning fuel from a truck on his CCTV footage.

Longstaff ran outside without shoes, phone in hand, to confront the suspect. Video shows him approaching the vehicle as the alleged thief speeds away in a ute, leaving a pump dripping diesel on the road. Longstaff yells, 'What are you doing mate?' and later jokes about getting a free pump.

The suspect returned moments later but fled again when Longstaff came running back out. Longstaff told 7News it was a 'one-second response' and that he thought, 'Screw this guy.' He expressed concern about the fuel crisis and uploaded the video to help police trace the suspect.
