James Brayshaw's Son Henry Opens Up on Gambling Addiction, $180K Debt

Henry Brayshaw, the 28-year-old son of Channel 7 cricket broadcaster James Brayshaw, has revealed the extent of his gambling addiction, which left him $180,000 in debt. In an interview on the Soberly Speaking Podcast, Brayshaw said the addiction began as harmless fun during beach house trips but escalated into a destructive cycle of chasing losses.

Brayshaw, who is engaged to adult content creator Annie Knight, admitted he once spent a $10,000 loan from her on horses in under an hour. He described how the addiction led him to also turn to drugs and alcohol to cope, and that he hid his struggles from loved ones for years.

The turning point came when he confessed to Knight after blowing the $10,000. Instead of ending their relationship, she supported him. Brayshaw credited his parents, Knight, and close friends for helping him recover, noting that his parents helped arrange a plan to pay off his debts, after which he worked FIFO jobs to expedite repayment.

Brayshaw encouraged others with gambling problems to self-exclude from betting platforms, calling it a positive step. He acknowledged that he still experiences lapses but said he has 'gone through the wringer' and is committed to recovery.
