Four-time Formula One world champion Alain Prost was injured during a violent home invasion at his residence in Nyon, Switzerland, according to Swiss media reports. The 71-year-old French driver sustained a minor head injury in the attack, which occurred on Tuesday morning.
Swiss newspaper Blick reported that masked assailants forced one of Prost's sons to open a family safe before fleeing with the contents. The Vaud cantonal police confirmed the incident in a statement, saying several masked individuals entered a home in Nyon, threatened the occupants, and injured one family member in the head.
Police stated that the perpetrators forced another family member to open a safe and escaped with stolen goods, the exact value of which is still being assessed. A large-scale search operation involving multiple agencies, including the French gendarmerie, was launched but the suspects have not yet been apprehended.
The cantonal public prosecutor's office has opened a criminal investigation. Police declined to confirm the identity of the victims, but Blick reported that the home belongs to Prost, who won the F1 drivers' championship in 1985, 1986, 1989, and 1993.
Blick noted a recent trend of burglaries targeting wealthy individuals in the Lake Geneva region, often carried out by cross-border gangs from France seeking valuable watch collections. Prost competed in F1 from 1980 to 1993 with teams including McLaren, Renault, Ferrari, and Williams.
