Police have arrested a 45-year-old man from Brahma Lodge following a series of alleged assaults across Adelaide, including an incident at a mosque. Officers were called just after 3.15pm on 19 May to reports of disturbances around Green Fields in the northern suburbs.
According to police, the suspect allegedly spat on a man during an altercation in the car park of a business on Port Wakefield Road. Both individuals then left the area. The same man later entered a mosque on Ryans Road, where he was verbally abusive to a woman inside.
The suspect then returned to the Port Wakefield Road business, where he allegedly made verbal threats toward a 68-year-old man, spat in his face, and attempted to assault him. When officers arrived, they found the suspect with a small chest wound believed to have been sustained during the earlier altercation. The older victim suffered minor injuries.
The man was taken to hospital for treatment and assessment before being arrested and charged with affray, disorderly behaviour, threats to cause harm, and assault with biological matter. Police said they wish to reassure the community that this was not a targeted incident.
Investigators are urging anyone who interacted with the man but has not yet spoken to police to come forward.
