Perth turned on the magic on Saturday night, as St Georges Terrace transformed into a glittering ribbon of colour, music and Christmas spirit for the 2025 Christmas Pageant. Everything sparkled, from the floats to the eyes of the thousands packed along the kerb.
The city came alive with 2500 performers and 21 dazzling floats, cementing the pageant as one of Perth’s most beloved traditions. From toddlers on shoulders to grandparents with camp chairs, the crowd stretched as far as the eye could see — a sea of Santa hats, glow wands and beaming smiles.
The show kicked off with Channel 7 float carrying Perth icons Rick Ardon and Susannah Carr, along with Ryan Daniels and Samantha Jolly. Daniels was accompanied by his seven-year-old son William, while his daughter Avery, 9, later appeared on the snowman float. Home and Away stars Ada Nicodemou, James Stewart and his daughter Scout, Kyle Shilling and Tristan Gorey drew huge cheers.
Stewart said the pageant was the first event that made him feel like Christmas. “WA has this real community vibe,” he said. “In Sydney, it would be pretty hard to do this, where you can pull up the streets and have kids, mums, dads, cousins and everyone coming.”
Highlights included Emma Memma atop the candy house float, the Alice in Wonderland float with Cassidy Mosconi as Alice, and the Pirate Ship float featuring Captain Hook (Ben Cousins), Peter Pan (Sam Haberland) and Tinkerbell (Lucy Murray). Santa Claus arrived last on his sleigh with Channel 7’s Jerrie Demasi, while the Grinch was “arrested” after trying to pinch a police officer’s hat.
Landsdale’s Ryan Bruce attended for the first time with his five-year-old daughter Layla, among many families rapt to be part of the spectacle.
