Audiences are invited to step into the evocative world Omodei creates with her new contemporary dance solo, The Future Softly, showing at The Blue Room Theatre within the Perth Cultural Centre in Northbridge. The production premieres on Thursday, January 22, with additional performances on Friday, January 23, and Saturday, January 24, all commencing at 6:30 PM.
Omodei, a contemporary dancer and choreographer familiar to Travel audiences from her role in the 2025 double bill Carcass & Ghosts, now presents a deeply personal work. The Future Softly is entirely her own creation, a solo piece she has both choreographed and performs.
An Intimate Exploration of Human Experience
During a recent dress rehearsal, spectators sat in the darkened intimacy of The Blue Room Theatre Studio, witnessing a profound exploration of life, love, and mortality through dance. The performance is described as a poetic journey that delves into themes of presence, human connection, and personal transformation.
"It's about existing in the space between life and death," Omodei explains. "It's about falling down and finding the strength to rise again. The piece includes reflections on the female experience and the process of discovery."

Tickets for the 40-minute performance are priced at $32. Jo Omodei hails from regional Western Australia and is a graduate of the Western Australian Academy of Performing Arts (WAAPA). She has cultivated a dynamic career performing and choreographing across WA, recently appearing in Carnivale.6 with WA Ballet and Co3 in STATE: Contemporary Vision.
Her international training includes stints with b12 in Berlin and the Henny Jurriëns Studio in Amsterdam, enriching her artistic practice with global perspectives.
