Selena Gomez has listed her luxurious former residence in Encino, California, for sale at $6.49 million. The sprawling estate, originally custom-built for the late rock legend Tom Petty and his first wife, Jane Benyo, in 1989, boasts six bedrooms, eight bathrooms, and a glam room fit for a celebrity.
Property Details and History
Gomez purchased the property in 2020 for $4.89 million. The home is located in Encino's exclusive Rancho enclave and underwent a meticulous renovation before Gomez acquired it. The estate is now described as a "private celebrity compound" that "evokes a magical vision of romance, inspiration, and tranquillity."
Tom Petty owned the home until 2017, when it was sold just months before his death. The property features a wine cellar, gym, massage room, workspace, glam room, kitchen, and a vocal booth—believed to be part of Petty's original recording studio, which Gomez likely used for her music.
Kitchen and Personal Touches
The kitchen is a standout feature, serving as the set for Gomez's home cooking show, Selena + Chef, which ran for four seasons. While the listing photos show no trace of Gomez's belongings, her personal style remains in the glam room with brightly colored floral wallpaper.
The exterior grounds include a cabana with a bar, fire pit, al fresco dining area, and a cascading waterfall and stream flowing into the pool and spa.
Gomez's Real Estate Moves
Gomez is selling the Encino property after she and her husband, Benny Blanco, purchased a $35 million marital abode in Beverly Hills in December 2024—the same week they got engaged. That Spanish-style estate was once owned by Joker and The Hangover director Todd Phillips.
Gomez still owns a $1.7 million home in LA's Woodland Hills, currently occupied by her mother and stepfather. Blanco, who lost a beachfront home in Malibu during the Palisades Fire in early 2025, still owns a Hollywood Hills estate he bought in 2020 from Tinder co-founder Sean Rad for $9.9 million. He recently sold his New York City bachelor pad in Manhattan's Chelsea neighborhood for $3.6 million.
