Harlem Globetrotters to Celebrate Centenary with Return to Cairns
Basketball's legendary entertainers, the Harlem Globetrotters, are set to return to the Far North as part of their historic 100 Year Tour, promising new surprises and exclusive VIP bench experiences for fans. This marks their first visit to Cairns since 2018, bringing their unique blend of athleticism, theatre, and comedy back to the tropics.
Historic 100 Year Tour Details
The Globetrotters will tip off across Australia and New Zealand in June and July for 18 family-friendly games, commemorating a century of magic since their founding by Abe Saperstein in 1926. The tour will debut new commemorative jerseys and feature the team facing off against longtime rivals, the Washington Generals, in a game filled with interactive moments and fresh entertainment elements.
NBL Group CEO David Stevenson expressed pride in the partnership with the Globetrotters, which began in 2018. "It's a relationship built around entertaining, inspiring, and growing the game of basketball at every level," he said. "We're excited about the opportunity to welcome even more families, young fans, and basketball lovers through the doors. The Globetrotters aren't just elite athletes; they're global role models and entertainers."
Exclusive VIP Experiences and Ticket Information
Exclusive ticket options are available for the Cairns event, including premium VIP bench tickets. This unique opportunity allows six people to sit on the team bench with the players during the show, offering an up-close and personal experience with the iconic squad. The Globetrotters' last appearance in Australia was during their world tour in Darwin in 2024, making this return highly anticipated by fans across the region.
The Globetrotters will perform at the Cairns Convention Centre on Sunday, June 28, as part of their broader tour that aims to inspire and entertain audiences of all ages. With a century of history behind them, the team continues to introduce the world to basketball through a dynamic mix of sports and spectacle.
