Nara Smith Reveals Daughter Whimsy's Cancer Diagnosis and Chemotherapy
Nara Smith's Daughter Diagnosed With Cancer

Influencer and model Nara Smith has revealed that her two-year-old daughter, Whimsy Lou, was diagnosed with cancer late last year and has been undergoing chemotherapy ever since. The 24-year-old social media star, married to model Lucky Blue Smith, 28, shared the heartbreaking news with her combined following of over 16 million on TikTok and Instagram.

Discovery and Diagnosis

Smith explained that the family noticed "something suspicious" on Whimsy's body and took her to an emergency department, where they were advised to see a paediatrician. During the consultation, the doctor's demeanor changed, triggering Smith's maternal instinct. "I just remember him going really quiet and calm, and my heart dropped in that moment. I don't know whether it was my gut telling me something or just a mum's intuition, but the first thing that I felt was she has cancer," she recounted.

The paediatrician instructed them to go to the nearest children's hospital for further evaluation. After a series of X-rays, ultrasounds, and a biopsy, the medical team confirmed the cancer diagnosis and informed the family that the disease had already spread. Whimsy needed to start chemotherapy immediately.

Sharing the Journey

Smith, known for her "trad wife" lifestyle content featuring homemade meals in elaborate outfits, said she wanted to share her daughter's story to inspire or help others facing similar health challenges. "Throughout all of this, I've been on a plethora of forums, social media, and also talked to parents and family in the hospital, and all of that combined really brought me a lot of comfort and alleviated the feeling of loneliness for me," she said. She added, "We wanted to share this to hopefully bring someone else that comfort or even incentivise you to go get something checked out that you've been avoiding."

Balancing Care and Life

Navigating Whimsy's cancer battle has been "really hard," Smith admitted, and she has been posting less frequently on social media. "Having found all of this out and navigating this while postpartum, also loving and caring for our other kids at home, also being in the hospital with Whimsy a lot and balancing work on top of that has been really challenging and finding that balance is something that I struggle with on a daily basis," she said. "Some days are a little easier, some days are really hard, and all I can do is try my best and show up in all those areas in the best way I can."

Outpouring of Support

Friends and fans expressed their heartbreak and support. Australian mother Kellie Finlayson, who is living with stage four bowel cancer and is married to AFL star Jeremy Finlayson, commented, "cannot even imagine going through chemo as a child, or watching my child go through it, it's so so sooooo hard. Sharing is so brave, you're for sure making someone else's journey feel less scary." Perth influencer Em Davies said she was "so sorry" and sent "strength, love, everything." British singer Raye called Smith "my beautiful superwoman friend."

Family Background

Smith and Lucky Blue have four children together: Rumble Honey, 5, Slim Easy, 4, Whimsy Lou, 2, and Fawnie Golden, 9 months. Lucky also has a daughter, Gravity Blue, from a previous relationship with model Stormi Bree. The family's journey has resonated deeply with their followers, highlighting the challenges of childhood cancer and the strength of a parent's love.
