The innovative campus, operating under the banner of Pimlico State High School, has already welcomed more than 200 students since its opening earlier this year, providing a tailored and supportive learning environment.

The campus, which commenced operations at the start of the 2024 school year, is specifically designed for young people in Years 10, 11, and 12. Its core mission is to re-engage students who have become disconnected from traditional education. The school's principal, Joel Buchholz, emphasises that the environment is intentionally different. "We're not a typical school," he states, highlighting the focus on building strong, individual relationships between staff and students to foster a sense of belonging and safety.
The curriculum is practical and flexible, centred around core subjects like English and Maths, but delivered through applied learning pathways. Students can pursue qualifications such as the Queensland Certificate of Education (QCE), Queensland Certificate of Individual Achievement (QCIA), or vocational education and training (VET) certificates. This approach allows them to gain real-world skills and recognised credentials, paving a clearer path to future employment or further training.

Beyond academics, the school places a heavy emphasis on personal development and wellbeing. The campus features modern facilities that support a holistic educational experience. Students have access to a commercial-grade teaching kitchen, a dedicated arts and crafts room, and technology-equipped learning spaces. A standout feature is the on-site barber shop, which serves a dual purpose: providing vocational training in hairdressing and offering a valuable service that boosts student confidence and engagement.
