Police Appeal for Witness in Alleged Racial Assault Incident Near Lake Ginninderra
Authorities in the Australian Capital Territory are urgently seeking to identify a man who intervened during an alleged assault and racial abuse of a woman in Belconnen. The incident, which occurred near Lake Ginninderra, has prompted a public appeal from ACT Policing as part of their ongoing investigation.
Details of the Alleged Incident
On April 2, at approximately 5:45 PM, two women were reportedly confronted by a child on Macdermott Place. The child is said to have made racial comments toward the women, leading to a verbal exchange. Subsequently, the child's mother, who was unknown to the victims, allegedly punched one of the women in the head multiple times.
It is further alleged that the mother then produced a knife and made threats against both women before departing the scene. The alleged victim sustained non-life-threatening injuries and was transported to a local hospital for medical treatment.
Investigation and Witness Appeal
Following initial inquiries, including interviews with multiple witnesses, ACT Policing have determined that a man attempted to intervene during the altercation. However, this individual has not yet come forward, and his identity remains unknown to authorities.
