Mega Creatures 2026 Brings Fantasy to Life at Hunter Valley Gardens
Hunter Valley Gardens is set to captivate visitors once again this autumn, as the Mega Creatures 2026 event transforms the scenic location into an immersive fantasy world. Running during the Easter and school holidays, this year's edition has been significantly expanded with breathtaking new installations and themed zones, offering an unforgettable experience for curious minds and adventurous spirits of all ages.
Expanded Fantasy Zones and Magical Creatures
The event showcases a dazzling array of large-scale animatronics and themed areas, where dinosaurs, dragons, and mythical legends come to life. Visitors can encounter towering prehistoric creatures, majestic dragons perched atop castle ruins, enchanting unicorns in whimsical meadow settings, and dazzling flower dragons throughout the newly expanded Land of Legends precinct. Popular returning features, such as giant animatronic insects and prehistoric favourites, will once again take over the Gardens, creating a vibrant and engaging outdoor adventure.
Julie Pettit, Marketing Manager at Hunter Valley Gardens, highlighted the event's growth and appeal. "Mega Creatures has become a signature autumn time event for the Hunter region," she said. "In 2026, we've expanded our fantasy zones and creature installations to deliver an even more wow-factor for visitors. The combination of large-scale animatronics, theming areas, and our Night Safari experience makes it visually breathtaking and highly engaging for visitors of all ages."
Event Details and Special Activities
The Mega Creatures Day Session operates daily from 9am to 4pm, with last entry at 3pm, and amusement rides available from 10am to 3:30pm. Rides, which are user-pay with height and age restrictions, include:
- Venetian Carousel
- Tea Cups
- Swing Chair
- Superslide
- Ferris Wheel
On select evenings from April 3-19 and April 24-26, the Gardens will glow during the Mega Creatures Night Safari, running from 5pm to 9:30pm. Additionally, the Easter Long Weekend from April 3-6 will feature Easter-themed activities, such as Easter Egg Hunts through the newly designed Hoppity Hollow and encounters with the Easter Bunny.
Regional Tourism and Accommodation
Located just one hour from Newcastle and two hours from Sydney, Mega Creatures draws captivated audiences from both metropolitan and regional areas. To support overnight visitation and boost regional tourism, the event offers accommodation packages in partnership with Mercure Hunter Valley Gardens and Harrigan's Hunter Valley. Tickets are currently on sale, with individual Day, Night, and Combo tickets available for purchase online.
