Michael Phillips, a 38-year-old US man who claims to have the world's smallest penis, has booked a procedure to increase his girth after raising funds through public donations. In a brief interview on Saturday, Phillips expressed gratitude for the support he received via GoFundMe, saying he was "really thankful and surprised" and "extremely grateful" that people cared enough to help.
Medical Condition and Fundraising Campaign
Phillips suffers from micropenis, a condition diagnosed by a doctor, which leaves him with a fully erect length of only 0.38 inches (0.97 cm). He launched a GoFundMe campaign titled "Help Michael Get Micropenis Enlargement Procedure" on June 25, which had raised nearly $13,000 from more than 250 donors as of Saturday afternoon. The procedure aims to increase his girth to alleviate urinary issues and other difficulties associated with the condition.
Publicity and Free Surgery Offer
After media coverage of his condition and fundraising efforts, prominent Beverly Hills plastic surgeon Dr. Robert Dorman publicly offered to perform the procedure for free. A spokesperson for Dorman said on Friday that he had not heard whether Phillips would accept the offer, as he was moved by the quality-of-life problems Phillips had discussed. When asked about the offer, Phillips replied, "I have already booked my procedure with a facility closer to home." Phillips resides in South Carolina near the border with North Carolina.
Advocacy and Challenges
Phillips has positioned himself as an advocate for those with micropenis, speaking out against body shaming. In a February interview with TMZ, he challenged anyone to disprove his claim of having the world's smallest penis. He also discussed how the condition rules out penetrative intimacy and makes urination difficult, as his urine "goes everywhere and stuff like that." Despite skepticism online, Phillips said he provided proof of his condition to the British television show This Morning before appearing in January. He also acknowledged sending pictures of his reproductive organ to others, including a woman who argued with him online and later posted a viral video calling it "by far the smallest one I'd ever seen."
Medical Definition and Rarity
According to the Cleveland Clinic, micropenis is an exceedingly rare condition defined by a stretched penile length of less than 2.67 inches (6.8 cm). The clinic notes that the average adult length is 5.25 inches (13.3 cm). Phillips' case is significantly below this threshold, highlighting the severity of his condition.
