The Crafted Clay Market returns to South Perth this Sunday, July 12, bringing together more than 30 of Western Australia's ceramic artists and potters for a one-day celebration of handmade clay work. The free event, held at the South Perth Community Hall from 11am to 4pm, will feature live demonstrations, interactive workshops, and hundreds of handmade clay creations available for purchase.
Event Details and Participants
Organised by MarketLife, a Perth-based event management company that specialises in showcasing local makers, the market is dedicated entirely to handmade clay work. Attendees can browse a wide range of items, including pottery, sculptural creations, jewellery, and decorative ceramics. Each artist will be available to speak with visitors about their creative processes and the stories behind their work, with makers from across the State taking part.
Free and Paid Workshops
The market will offer free drop-in hand-building workshops, where all ages are invited to create their very own punch pot with no booking required. A charge of $10 will be required if participants want their creation glazed and fired. Additionally, attendees who want to try the pottery wheel can book a 15-minute wheel-throwing session for $10, delivered by the Belmont Potters Group. These activities are designed as an introduction to wheel-throwing rather than formal lessons.
Booking and Accessibility
Wheel-throwing sessions can be booked online in advance. The event is free to enter, making it accessible for all community members interested in exploring ceramics and supporting local artists.
