Two men are facing a combined 21 charges following a dramatic series of police pursuits that stretched across Perth's outer suburbs, culminating in a dramatic arrest on Roe Highway in Maida Vale.
Chaotic Pursuits Across Suburbs
The incident began on Wednesday morning around 9:20 am, when officers spotted a black Holden Colorado in Middle Swan that was believed to be connected to an earlier incident. According to a police spokeswoman, the driver failed to stop for police, instead accelerating away despite officers activating their lights and sirens.
The chase continued through the suburbs of Ellenbrook, Henley Brook, and Brabham. During this pursuit, the situation escalated significantly when the Colorado reversed heavily into a police vehicle, causing substantial damage.
Vehicle Swap and Second Chase
The driver eventually abandoned the Holden Colorado on Partridge Street in Brabham. In a bold move, he then allegedly fled the scene by entering a stolen Toyota HiLux, which was being driven by his co-accused.
This triggered a second police chase, which spanned the suburbs of Brabham, Midvale, and High Wycombe. The Police Air Wing monitored the HiLux from the air, providing critical oversight as ground units pursued the vehicle. The chase finally came to a stop on Roe Highway in Maida Vale, where officers successfully brought the vehicle to a halt.
Multiple Charges Laid
Both men inside the vehicle were arrested at the scene. Detectives from the Midland rapid high harm offender response team subsequently laid charges.
A 32-year-old Middle Swan man was charged with a total of 16 offences. These include three counts of endanger life, health or safety of a person, reckless driving to escape pursuit, and possessing or acquiring ammunition.
A 31-year-old man was charged with five offences in relation to the incidents. Both accused are scheduled to appear in Midland Magistrates Court on Thursday.
