Two new hospitality ventures have arrived on the scenic shores of Clifton Beach, brought to life by a well-known Cairns couple with a proven track record in the industry.
From Portofino to the Northern Beaches
Tony and Manuela Moore, the former owners of the popular Chill at Portofino restaurant and bar in Cairns, have officially opened their latest projects. The couple, who sold their successful Trinity Park venue in 2022, have now redirected their focus and investment to the bustling Northern Beaches strip.
Their new establishments are Beach Club Bar & Kitchen and Beach Shack, both situated at the Clifton Beach Village shopping centre. The duo signed the lease for the premises in December 2023 and have since undertaken a significant transformation of the space.
A Dual-Venture Concept
The larger of the two venues, Beach Club Bar & Kitchen, offers a full-service dining and drinking experience. It features a modern, relaxed atmosphere where patrons can enjoy a meal and a drink. Right next door, the Beach Shack provides a quicker, more casual option, perfect for grabbing a coffee, a smoothie, or a light bite to take away.
Manuela Moore explained the vision behind having two distinct offerings side-by-side. She stated it was about catering to different customer needs throughout the day, from morning coffee runs to leisurely evening dinners. The fit-out for both venues has been designed to create a bright, welcoming, and contemporary beachside vibe.
Building on Local Success
The Moores are not newcomers to building a beloved local business. Their previous venture, Chill at Portofino, became a favourite among locals and visitors alike during their ownership. The decision to sell that business provided them with the capital and opportunity to explore a new location and concept.
Choosing Clifton Beach was a strategic move. The Northern Beaches area has seen consistent growth and development, with a strong community feel and high demand for quality dining and social options. The couple expressed confidence in the location's potential and their desire to become a staple of the local community.
The official opening for both Beach Club Bar & Kitchen and Beach Shack took place in early May 2024. The launch marks an exciting addition to the Clifton Beach retail and hospitality precinct, offering residents and visitors new choices for socialising and dining just moments from the sand.
