Mandurah Forum Food Court to Close, TK Maxx Strongly Tipped as Replacement
Mandurah Forum's indoor food court is set to close by the end of this month, with widespread speculation pointing to British discount retailer TK Maxx taking over the space. Forum management has confirmed the closure but remains tight-lipped about the new tenant, only stating that an "international retailer" will be introduced to the shopping centre later this year.
Centre Management Confirms Strategic Revamp
A spokesperson for Vicinity Centres, which manages Mandurah Forum, explained that the food court closure is part of a long-term strategy to evolve the centre and enhance the overall customer experience. "The project will introduce a new international retailer and a new communal seating area near Woolworths, creating a welcoming space for the community and supporting a diverse retail mix," the spokesperson said.
While management has not officially named TK Maxx, social media chatter and local rumours have consistently identified the cut-price fashion and homewares chain as the likely newcomer. PerthNow has reached out to TK Maxx for comment, but the retailer has yet to address or confirm the speculation publicly.
Outdoor Areas Also Undergoing Transformation
In addition to the indoor changes, the centre's outdoor areas are receiving a significant makeover. The alfresco dining section will see its current water feature removed to make way for expanded seating and a dedicated kids zone. An outdoor playground adjoining the food court is also planned for relocation, though formal plans for this move have not been finalised.
These outdoor upgrades are expected to be completed by June, with current outdoor retailers continuing to trade throughout the construction period. "The centre will remain open and trading throughout the works, with a focus on ensuring customers can continue to enjoy their visit while these improvements are delivered," the spokesperson emphasised.
Support for Impacted Retailers
The centre management has assured that retailers directly affected by the reconfiguration have been engaged with individually and given opportunities to explore alternative arrangements. "Retailers directly impacted by the reconfiguration were engaged individually once the project reached a point where meaningful discussions could occur, and we've maintained ongoing dialogue from that time," the spokesperson stated.
"Where possible, retailers were offered options to explore alternative arrangements within the centre, including relocation opportunities, with outcomes progressed based on individual circumstances. Throughout the process, we've worked closely with impacted retailers to support a smooth transition."
The overall upgrades reflect Mandurah Forum's ongoing commitment to creating a welcoming, family-friendly destination for the local community, according to centre representatives.
