Two popular supplement products sold across Australia have been recalled over concerns that glass fragments may be present inside some bottles. The Therapeutic Goods Administration (TGA) announced on Tuesday that Sanofi Consumer Healthcare, the company behind the Nature’s Own vitamin and supplement range, is recalling specific batches of two products due to concerns that some bottles may contain glass.
Affected Products
The affected products are:
- Nature’s Own Glucosamine Sulfate with Chondroitin (320-pack), batch number 1662937, expiry April 2028
- Nature’s Own Magnesium Glycinate 1150mg (300-pack), batch number 1665576, expiry April 2028
“Sanofi-Aventis Healthcare Pty Ltd T/A Sanofi Consumer Healthcare is recalling the below products due to the potential presence of a glass fragment within the bottle (not within the tablets),” Australia’s medicines and medical devices regulator said.
According to the TGA, the issue is limited to the listed batches and does not affect any other Nature’s Own products. The products have been supplied in Australia since May 7, 2026.
Uses of the Supplements
The glucosamine supplement is commonly taken to help relieve mild joint pain, reduce mild joint stiffness, and support joint mobility associated with mild arthritis. The magnesium glycinate product is marketed to help reduce muscle cramps and muscle tiredness, relieve mild muscle spasms, and support energy production when dietary intake is inadequate.
Health Risks and Consumer Action
The TGA warned that consumers could be injured if they continue using the affected products. “There is a risk of users being cut when handling the product, and it could also be harmful if accidentally swallowed,” the regulator said. Consumers who have purchased either affected batch are being urged to stop using the product and return it to the place of purchase for a full refund.
