Man Charged Over Theft Spree at Canberra Restaurant and Student Housing

A 31-year-old Turner resident has been arrested following a series of thefts and burglaries across Canberra since November last year. The man allegedly stole a lockbox containing keys from a city restaurant about 5am on February 24, then returned to use the keys to enter the venue and force open safes, stealing cash and electronic devices.

On the same day, the man allegedly checked into a short-stay apartment in Dickson, where he damaged the room and stole several items. Investigators also link him to vending machine break-ins at the University of Canberra and a student accommodation unit in November 2025 and January 2026.

Police arrested the man in Turner on March 4, finding suspected stolen items and a crystalline substance believed to be meth. A search of his home and vehicle uncovered cash, cannabis, and electronic devices.
