A new neighbourhood shopping centre has officially opened in Perth’s fast-growing northern suburbs, with a Woolworths supermarket now available in Eglinton. The Eglinton Village neighbourhood centre, located on Imperial Entrance just off Marmion Avenue, is about 40km north of Perth’s CBD.
Development Details and Timeline
Construction on the Eglinton Village neighbourhood centre began in early 2025. Once fully fitted out, it will house 15 specialty stores, including a Healthylife pharmacy, medical centre, and dental clinic. The development was valued at $22 million when approved by State planners last year.
Impact on Local Community
The opening means Eglinton residents no longer need to travel south to Alkimos or north to Yanchep for grocery shopping. The 3,250sqm Woolworths is complemented by 250 car parking spaces and features a six-bay Direct to Boot service for online order pickups.
Official Opening Ceremony
Woolworths Group State property development manager Alicia Jones was joined by Butler MLA Lorna Clarke to mark the official opening. “We are pleased to be opening our doors to the Eglinton community and supporting them with this fantastic new space,” Ms Jones said. “This new centre is a place where locals can shop and socialise, and represents a significant investment of almost $50 million in the local area.”
Development and Employment
The site was developed by Woolworths’ property development company, Fabcot Pty Ltd, after the land was sold by developer Cedar Woods in 2024. The Eglinton Woolworths is the second to open in Perth’s far northern suburbs in weeks, following the Two Rocks store at the former Atlantis Marine Park site in early June. Woolworths said across both stores, 270 team members are employed, including 215 new staff.
