WA Property Industry Celebrates National Recognition at UDIA Awards

Western Australia's development industry has once again been celebrated on a national platform, securing four prestigious wins at the 2026 UDIA National Awards for Excellence held in Adelaide last week. These awards spotlight the finest urban development projects across Australia, underscoring the industry's unwavering dedication to innovation, collaboration, and creating communities that genuinely enhance residents' lives.

Outstanding Winners from Western Australia

Among the standout achievers was Providence Lifestyle's Piara Waters Lifestyle Resort, which triumphed in the Seniors Living category. This project exemplifies modern community living for individuals aged over 50, offering a vibrant land lease community in Perth's southern suburbs. It combines affordability with high-quality, thoughtfully designed homes within a walkable and connected neighbourhood.

Several residents from Piara Waters Lifestyle Resort journeyed from Perth to Adelaide to accept the award alongside the Providence Lifestyle team, highlighting the strong sense of belonging fostered within the village.

DevelopmentWA's Dual Success

DevelopmentWA earned recognition in two award categories. First, it won in the Affordable Housing category for its Karda Way at OneOneFive Hamilton Hill project. This initiative serves as a model for delivering affordable housing through practical construction economies and efficient lifestyle and operating costs.

Second, DevelopmentWA, in partnership with Peet and Perron Group, secured an award for the Brabham estate in Perth's north-east growth corridor. Praised by judges for its sustainable and innovative design, Brabham features one of Australia's most sustainable two-storey homes, a developer-backed multimillion-dollar Innovation Fund, restored wetlands, and a $13,000 sustainability incentive for buyers.

Leadership in Diversity and Inclusion

Zenith Energy was honoured with the Diversity in Development award for its exemplary leadership in embedding diversity across its values, operations, and partnerships. The company has established Australia's first engagement agreement between an independent power producer and a First Nations group for an off-grid project.

This agreement with Tjiwarl Aboriginal Corporation led to the creation of Tjiwarl Katu Power, a majority First Nations-owned joint venture delivering energy services on Tjiwarl Country.

A Shared Focus on Community

What unites all these winners is a common emphasis on people, whether through providing affordable homes, fostering inclusive partnerships, or building vibrant, connected communities. As Western Australia continues to expand, the role of the development industry is increasingly crucial. These national awards affirm that projects and teams in the state are setting benchmarks for the future of urban development across Australia.
