A man in his 40s was trapped under concrete at a construction site on Minnie Street in Southport on Thursday, prompting a large rescue operation. The incident occurred around 12:15 pm when construction material and concrete reportedly fell from a crane, pinning the man's legs.
Queensland Ambulance Service received the call and dispatched three crews to the scene. Upon arrival, paramedics found the man still trapped, with fire and rescue crews working to free him from the rubble.
A Queensland Ambulance spokesperson described the rescue as likely to be a prolonged job due to the circumstances. However, fire and rescue crews, with the assistance of four teams, successfully freed the man just after 1 pm.
