Tip Top's $130 Million Bakery Upgrade Doubles Production in Canning Vale
A new $130 million state-of-the-art bakery line has been officially opened at Tip Top Bakeries' facility in Canning Vale, Western Australia, marking the company's largest upgrade in over two decades. This significant investment is set to double the production capacity at the site, now capable of producing 8,350 loaves per hour, thereby strengthening bread supplies across the state.
Enhanced Production and Supply Security
The upgraded bakery aims to ensure a consistent and local supply of high-quality fresh bread, addressing past disruptions such as a fire at the Canning Vale bakery last year. Tip Top Bakeries managing director Andrew Cummings emphasized the importance of local food manufacturing in WA, stating that the expansion provides the ability to respond to demand and deliver reliable service to retail partners and customers.
Modern Workplace and Safety Improvements
Beyond production gains, the new facility has been designed with a focus on worker safety and modern amenities. Key features include:
- New change rooms, a lunch room, a dedicated health hub, and a prayer room.
- Improved traffic management and a new layout to reduce manual handling.
- Advanced cleaning systems to enhance workplace hygiene and safety.
- Installation of solar panels to increase renewable energy use, supporting sustainability efforts.
Government Support and Long-Term Commitment
Premier Roger Cook, who inaugurated the new bread line, highlighted the project's benefits for Western Australians. He noted that such initiatives build confidence during supply chain issues and signal Tip Top Bakeries' long-term commitment to the state and its workforce. Some products from the new line are already available on WA shelves, showcasing the immediate impact of this upgrade.
