Atomos Sales Soar: $25M Half-Year Forecast as Video Tech Demand Grows
Atomos turbocharges sales with $25M half-year forecast

Australian video technology company Atomos Ltd has dramatically accelerated its financial performance, reporting substantially upgraded sales and earnings projections for the current financial year following continued strong demand for its popular product ranges.

Financial Performance Exceeds Expectations

Atomos anticipates first-half sales to reach between $23 million and $25 million, comfortably surpassing the $18.6 million result achieved in the same period last financial year. The company's earnings have shown even more dramatic improvement, with EBITDA expected to land in the range of $1.5 million to $2 million.

This represents a remarkable turnaround from the previous year's first-half result, which recorded a $5.6 million loss. The positive momentum that began in the September quarter has continued into the second quarter, driving the upgraded forecasts.

Drivers Behind the Growth Surge

According to the company's latest trading update, the improved financial performance has been fueled by continued strong demand for its Shinobi and Ninja video product ranges. The company has also benefited from an updated marketing strategy that focuses on digital marketing, direct-to-customer approaches, and retail media platforms.

Atomos Managing Director and CEO Peter Barber expressed satisfaction with the company's trajectory. "The sales and earnings momentum we saw in the first quarter has continued to build into the second quarter," Mr Barber stated. "Pleasingly, this momentum is not only being driven by new product launches but a progressive increase in sales across many of our flagship products, such as the Shinobi II, which has now been in market for more than 12 months."

Future Outlook and Product Pipeline

The company expects the strong performance to continue throughout the financial year, anticipating second-half sales and EBITDA to meet or exceed first-half results. This optimistic projection is largely attributed to multiple new products scheduled for release in the second half of the financial year.

Atomos has also worked to stabilise its fixed cost base, allowing the company to benefit from operating leverage as sales numbers increase. This strategic cost management has contributed significantly to the improved earnings performance.

As an innovative video technology specialist, Atomos develops versatile handheld video recorders and monitors. The company's technology enables users to decompress data from memory-restricted cameras, transforming low-resolution digital data into high-quality video files compatible with popular editing formats like Apple's ProRes and Avid's DNxHD.

With the ongoing expansion of content creation across social media platforms and the continued growth of video content consumption, Atomos appears well-positioned to capitalise on what company leadership describes as a "decades-long content driven trend."
