Perth Fuel Price Alert: Motorists Urged to Fill Up Before Wednesday Spike

An urgent alert has been issued for Perth and Mandurah motorists to fill their vehicle tanks immediately before fuel prices rise again on Wednesday. This warning comes as a faint reminder of the city's traditional fuel cycle, which was disrupted by global market pressures following the US-Israel-Iran conflict.

Wednesday will see significant price increases, putting further strain on household budgets across the metropolitan area. Historically, this day would have followed cheap fuel Tuesday with a jump in prices, but current conditions have exacerbated the situation.

Price Increases Detailed

The average price of unleaded petrol (ULP) across Perth will rise from 219.8 cents to 227.4 cents per litre. Meanwhile, diesel fuel will experience a more substantial spike, increasing from 306.8 cents to 318 cents per litre.

Liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) will see a minor increase from 143.1 cents to 144.0 cents per litre on average.

"Motorists in Perth and Mandurah are advised to fill up now if they need to, with petrol prices set to rise tomorrow," FuelWatch stated in a Tuesday afternoon announcement. "Drivers are also urged to only purchase the fuel they need to fill their vehicles, not to stockpile."

Cheapest Fuel Locations

On Tuesday, the most affordable petrol in Perth could be found at:

  • Shell Bullsbrook in the East at 199.0 cents per litre
  • Burk Cannington and Burk Oakford in the South at 193.3 cents per litre
  • Burk Mount Lawley in the North at 195.3 cents per litre

For Wednesday, the cheapest options will be:

  • Shell Bullsbrook in the East at 205.0 cents per litre
  • Liberty Beckenham in the South at 191.3 cents per litre
  • Burk Landsdale in the North at 203.3 cents per litre

Potential Savings and Regional Variations

Despite the average increase, FuelWatch noted that 38 individual service stations will still offer ULP below 210 cents per litre on Wednesday.

The price difference between the cheapest and most expensive fuel pumps is 68 cents per litre, meaning motorists could save approximately $40 when filling a standard 60-litre tank by choosing wisely.

While Perth faces increases, other Western Australian regions will experience different trends:

  1. Albany, Bunbury, Busselton, Esperance, Geraldton, and Kalgoorlie/Boulder will see slight decreases in average ULP prices
  2. Karratha, Port Hedland, and South Hedland will experience a modest 2-cent increase

The overall state trend shows ULP prices decreasing slightly outside the metropolitan area, highlighting the localized nature of Wednesday's price spike in Perth.
