Singapore Airlines has put the first international flights from Western Sydney International Airport (WSI) on sale. Daily flights to Singapore will commence on November 23, a month after the new airport is expected to be ready for passenger services.
The airline is one of just four that have committed to operating flights in and out of the new airport. Singapore Airlines became the first international commercial airline to sell tickets for a flight from WSI this morning.
The daily route will connect Singapore's Changi Airport with the new Western Sydney airport, known as Nancy-Bird Walton Airport. The first flight is due to depart just before midnight and arrive in Singapore at 5am, while the returning flight will depart Singapore at 11:30am and arrive at WSI at 10:20pm.
Transport Minister Catherine King said the flights would connect Western Sydney globally. The airport is curfew-free, unlike Sydney Airport at Mascot, which is subject to an 11pm–6am curfew.
Singapore Airlines is one of two international airlines to commit to using WSI, along with Air New Zealand, which plans to start flights in 2027. Australian carriers Qantas and Jetstar will also operate from WSI.
