A person remains trapped inside a vehicle following a serious collision on Reid Highway in West Swan, which has resulted in significant peak-hour traffic disruptions.
Crash Details
The incident occurred just before 7:30am on Thursday morning when a car and a work van collided on the eastbound lanes of Reid Highway, prior to the West Swan Road intersection. The impact caused the work van to roll onto its roof, leaving it overturned on the side of the highway.
Emergency Response
Multiple emergency services are currently at the scene, including four St John Ambulance units, the Department of Fire and Emergency Services (DFES), and Western Australia Police. A specialist from St John has been deployed to assist with a possible extrication of the trapped individual.
According to St John Ambulance, one driver has managed to exit their vehicle, while the other remains trapped inside the overturned van. Crews are working diligently to free the person.
Traffic Impact
Traffic on Reid Highway has been significantly slowed, with the highway reduced to a single lane in the affected eastbound section. Motorists are advised to expect delays and consider alternative routes if possible.
