A $60 million residential development comprising 91 apartments in a building rising up to seven storeys has been proposed for Perth's northern coastal suburb of Jindalee. The complex is planned for a 6629-square-metre site at the corner of Jindalee Boulevard and Maritime Drive within the Jindalee Coastal Village precinct.
Ocean Views and Apartment Mix
If approved, residents will enjoy sweeping ocean views, as the site lies less than 300 metres from Jindalee Beach. A planning application prepared by Duncraig-based Pinnacle Planning on behalf of the landowners outlines a mix of one, two, and three-bedroom apartments.
The development would include 16 one-bedroom, one-bathroom apartments; four two-bedroom, one-bathroom units; 53 two-bedroom, two-bathroom apartments; and 18 three-bedroom, two-bathroom apartments. A two-level carpark is proposed with 143 resident bays, nine visitor bays, and seven motorcycle bays.
Building Design and Communal Facilities
The building would reach a maximum height of seven storeys on the western side, stepping down to a single storey on the eastern side. Planned communal facilities include a residents' lounge, gym, pool area, outdoor seating, and landscaped gardens in the site's north-eastern corner.
The developers stated that the project has been designed to protect the amenity of existing residents in the surrounding area. "The design caters for a buyer demographic seeking a low-maintenance lifestyle, through offering a variety of multiple dwelling sizes, and providing an alternative to the detached single-house development typical for the surrounding locality," they said. "The proposal will make a positive contribution to the coastal Jindalee node and community, and provide further much-needed housing diversity in the locality and region."
Public Consultation and Next Steps
Public consultation on the plans was open through the City of Wanneroo from June 25 to July 8. A recommendation report will now be prepared by the city, and the application will be determined by the Metro Outer Development Assessment Panel at a later date.
