A home has been completely destroyed by a fierce blaze in Lake Macquarie early on Thursday morning, with emergency services responding to multiple calls from concerned residents.
Fire Crews Respond to Blaze
Fire and Rescue NSW crews were dispatched to a property on Railway Parade North, Blackalls Park, shortly after 4:30am following numerous triple-0 calls reporting the incident. The response was substantial, with eight fire trucks and approximately 30 firefighters mobilised to the scene. They were supported by an FRNSW Inspector, while police, paramedics, and electrical authorities also attended to assist with the emergency.
Intense Fire Conditions
Upon arrival, firefighters found the single-storey home 'fully involved' in fire, with flames engulfing the structure. Crews immediately began deploying multiple hose lines in an effort to contain the blaze and protect a nearby garage that was being threatened by radiant heat from the intense flames. Due to the severity of the fire, firefighters were forced to adopt a defensive strategy and were unable to enter the property during the height of the blaze for safety reasons.
The fire was brought under control shortly before 5:30am. Once conditions improved, crews were able to enter the building and conduct a thorough search, confirming that no one was inside. All residents had been accounted for earlier by police, ensuring everyone's safety.
Aftermath and Investigation
Firefighters remained on the scene to extinguish hotspots and ensure the area was safe before the incident was handed over to police just before 7am. There were no reported injuries resulting from the fire. The cause of the fire is yet to be determined and will be investigated by police in the coming days.
The community has been reassured that emergency services responded swiftly and effectively to contain the situation. Residents in the area are advised to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activity to authorities.
