Perth Sisters Share Pregnancy Journey, Welcome Babies Three Days Apart
Sisters Welcome Babies Three Days Apart After Shared Pregnancy

Sisters Graciella Fabian and Dianara Asoi welcomed their babies just three days apart at St John of God Murdoch Hospital in May, after experiencing every step of their pregnancies together.

The sisters discovered they were expecting one day after the other and went on to share morning sickness, midnight cravings, and ultrasound appointments. Both chose Dr Will Adams as their obstetrician, allowing them to attend appointments together.

Surreal and Joyful Experience

“It honestly felt surreal that this had actually happened,” Ms Fabian said. “More than anything, we were just so happy and grateful that both babies arrived healthy and safe.”

Ms Asoi gave birth to a baby boy on May 25, and Ms Fabian followed with a little girl on May 28.

Sharing Every Moment

Ms Fabian said she felt blessed to share something so significant with her sister. “It made the whole experience so fun because we were literally going through everything together,” she said. “We’d find ourselves throwing up in the bathroom at the same time, meeting in the kitchen in the middle of the night because we were both hungry and going to all our appointments together.”

Ultrasound appointments were her favourite part. “Watching our babies grow and seeing them on the screen each time was such an emotional and special experience,” she said.

A Four-Year-Old’s Prediction

Adding to the magic, the sisters’ four-year-old niece Sohara predicted the pregnancies before they knew. “She kept telling us that we both had babies in our tummies,” Ms Fabian said. “She also confidently predicted that my sister would have a boy and that I would have a girl. Amazingly, she was right.”

Hospital Support and Family Chaos

The family enjoyed chaotic hospital visits moving between the two rooms. Ms Fabian praised the team at St John of God for accommodating the chaos and ensuring they were cared for together. “We both felt incredibly supported, cared for and reassured every step of the way,” she said. “Having our babies delivered just three days apart made the experience even more special, and we are so grateful to the midwives, nurses, doctors and support staff who looked after both us and our babies with such kindness and professionalism.”

Hoping for a Lifelong Bond

The sisters hope the baby cousins will grow up as best friends. “Since they were born only three days apart, they’ve already shared such a unique beginning to life, and I hope that special bond continues as they grow older,” Ms Fabian said. “I hope they always know they have a cousin who feels more like a sibling.”
