Perth's prolonged period of wet and windy weather is expected to conclude this weekend, as the Bureau of Meteorology (BOM) forecasts sunny and dry conditions from Friday onwards. However, residents must first endure another bout of rain, with thunderstorms already lashing the metro area on Tuesday morning and heavy showers persisting throughout the day.
Thunderstorms and Showers Continue
Tuesday morning saw thunderstorms across parts of the Perth metropolitan area, with heavy showers set to continue during the day. The wet weather system will bring further rain on Tuesday evening and most of Wednesday, with a high chance of at least 8mm of rainfall. Wednesday's temperatures are expected to peak at 19C.
Gale Warnings Issued
BOM has issued a gale warning for residents off the Albany and Esperance coasts for Wednesday. Additionally, a gale warning has been extended off the Bunbury and Leeuwin coasts after the South West region was battered over the weekend, with gusts reaching up to 100km per hour recorded at Cape Leeuwin.
Thursday's Outlook
Thursday may bring some early morning showers, with top temperatures of 18C, before a dry run to end the week. BOM currently forecasts no rain for Friday, with conditions set to remain warm and dry well into the weekend, reaching a high of 20C.
Weekend Reprieve
Residents are encouraged to enjoy the conditions before another wet weather system hits next week, with up to 10mm currently forecast. The weekend will see partly cloudy skies on Saturday and sunny skies on Sunday, with temperatures ranging from 7C to 20C.
