Makeshift Memorial for Girl, 4, Killed in Perth Crash

A makeshift memorial has been set up near where a young girl was tragically killed in a shocking afternoon crash. The four-year-old was a passenger in a Holden Astra that collided with a Ford Mustang in Perth’s southeast about 3.15pm on Wednesday.

She was taken to Fiona Stanley Hospital but could not be saved and died from her injuries.

Community in Mourning

“It honestly breaks our hearts. We have little kids at home, so we’re honestly like holding our little ones really (tight) last night,” one local resident said of the tragedy.

Flowers and teddy bears have been placed at a makeshift memorial near Boardman Rd and Garden St. The intersection where the crash occurred is on the border of Canning Vale and Thornlie.

Tributes have been left near where a Ford Mustang and Holden Astra crashed in Perth’s southeast. Witnesses said they heard a loud bang and a child screaming.

Witness Accounts

“It was really scary. It was really, really scary,” one neighbour who rushed to help told reporters. He said there were scores of people who raced to help before emergency services arrived and took over.

“We tried everything that we could until the ambulance came,” he said.

The 32-year-old female driver of the Astra hatchback and another passenger, an eight-year-old boy, were also taken to Fiona Stanley for medical treatment and have since been discharged. The Mustang driver, a 29-year-old woman, suffered minor injuries.

Major Crash has appealed for witnesses and anyone with information should contact Crime Stoppers.
