Fatal crash in Lynford

A 72-year-old man from Coominya died at the scene after a Toyota Corolla and an Isuzu tip truck collided on Forest Hill Fernvale Rd in Lynford at about 6.50pm on Wednesday. Both vehicles caught fire following the impact. The man was the sole occupant of the Toyota.

The truck driver, a 48-year-old man, was taken to Princess Alexandra Hospital with serious injuries. Emergency services attended the scene, and the aftermath showed significant damage to both vehicles.

Second crash on New England Highway

About five hours later, at 11.47pm, a Holden Commodore and a Toyota LandCruiser collided head-on on the New England Highway at Mount Kynoch. The Holden driver, a 33-year-old woman from Darling Heights, was trapped in her vehicle for some time before being freed by emergency crews.

She was taken to Toowoomba Hospital with significant leg injuries. The Toyota driver, a 33-year-old man from Toowoomba, suffered minor injuries and declined to go to hospital. Photos show both vehicles with extensive front-end damage, including the Holden’s engine bay crushed and the Toyota LandCruiser’s front bumper and bonnet heavily damaged.

Investigations ongoing

Police are investigating both crashes. No further details have been released at this stage. The incidents mark a tragic night on Queensland roads.
