Police in Pattaya, Thailand, have arrested a 28-year-old British woman on suspicion of stabbing a local man during a party at a condominium. The incident occurred in the early hours of Saturday, July 4, 2026, at a high-rise apartment building in the popular beach resort city.
Arrest and Charges
The suspect, identified as Emma Louise Jones, was taken into custody at her rented condo in the Pratumnak Hill area. She faces charges of attempted murder and possession of a weapon. According to Pattaya police chief Colonel Somchai Thongchai, the victim, a 35-year-old Thai man named Somsak Rungruang, was stabbed multiple times in the chest and abdomen.
“The victim was rushed to Bangkok Pattaya Hospital and is in stable condition after emergency surgery,” Colonel Somchai said. “We have recovered a kitchen knife believed to be the weapon used in the attack.”
Details of the Incident
Witnesses told police that the stabbing followed a heated argument between Jones and the victim during a private party at the condo. The altercation reportedly began over a personal dispute. “There were about 15 people at the party. They were drinking and suddenly we heard screaming,” said a neighbor who asked not to be named. “We saw a woman running out with a knife.”
Police say Jones initially fled the scene but was tracked down a few hours later at a friend's apartment in the same building. She was found hiding in a bathroom and offered no resistance when arrested.

Jones had been living in Thailand for approximately six months, working as an English teacher. She does not have a criminal record in the country.
