A six-year-old boy has died in hospital four days after a horrific school holiday crash south of Brisbane that left two others injured. The boy was a passenger in a Nissan Qashqai when it collided with a Subaru Impreza at the intersection of Mount Lindsey Highway and Gould Hill Road in Gleneagle about 2.14pm on Monday.
Emergency Response and Injuries
Emergency crews rushed to the scene and treated the boy for life-threatening injuries before he was airlifted to hospital, where he died on Friday. The driver of the Nissan, a 56-year-old Gleneagle woman, and a second passenger, a 13-year-old girl, sustained serious injuries and were also transported to hospital. The driver of the Subaru, a 52-year-old Beaudesert man, did not sustain any physical injuries.
Investigation Ongoing
Authorities are investigating the cause of the crash. Anyone with relevant information, CCTV or dashcam vision is asked to contact police. The incident has left the community shaken, with the young boy's death adding to the tragedy of the school holiday period.
