Kylie Minogue's Padam Padam Look Becomes Barbie Doll

Mattel has released a Barbie doll based on Australian pop star Kylie Minogue, featuring the iconic red outfit from her 2023 hit song "Padam Padam." The doll is part of the Barbie Signature Collector Doll music series, making Minogue the first Australian artist included in the collection. Other stars in the series include Tina Turner, Stevie Nicks, Gloria Estefan, and Aaliyah.

The "Padam Padam" music video look earned Minogue the 2024 Grammy Award for Best Pop Dance Recording. Minogue expressed excitement about the collaboration, stating, "Seeing this doll come to life has been really special." The doll retails for $109.95, significantly higher than the standard Barbie price of under $50, and some have already appeared on eBay with higher price tags.

However, not all fans were thrilled with the design. Some criticized the doll for not resembling Minogue, with comments like "This looks literally nothing like her" and suggestions that other eras, such as "Fever" or "Light Years," would have been better choices. Others defended the choice, arguing that "Padam Padam" marked Minogue's renaissance in the United States.

This is not the first time Barbie has honored Minogue. In 2024, the brand named her a Barbie Role Model during its 65th anniversary. The doll is now available at major retailers and through Mattel Creations.
