Facebook is experiencing a major outage as thousands of users around the world are logged out of their accounts and unable to access the platform.
The outage is affecting Meta owned products including Facebook Messenger, the Facebook website and app. It kicked off around 11.45pm AEST and remains offline.
Users have been automatically logged out of their accounts and have been unable to regain access, instead being met with an error message.
Downdetector reports thousands of outage complaints
Downdetector, a major tracking website that collects information on website crashes, has seen more than 93,000 reports of an outage in the last 30 minutes for Facebook. There have also been reports of an outage for Instagram, another Meta owned product, with more than 5,000 made to Downdetector.
WhatsApp, also owned by Meta, appears to be functioning normally.
