Lani Pallister continued her impressive form at the Australian Open swimming championships on the Gold Coast, winning the women's 400m freestyle in 3 minutes 59.36 seconds. The 23-year-old, who also won the 800m freestyle on Monday, is proving her versatility across middle and long distances. Pallister credited her new coach Dean Boxall for instilling greater belief in her abilities.

Kaylee McKeown won the women's 100m backstroke in 58.06 seconds, despite a timing glitch that initially showed Mollie O'Callaghan as the winner. McKeown admitted she has been too hard on herself and is learning to appreciate her progress as she targets the Los Angeles Olympics.

Kyle Chalmers came within 0.04 seconds of the Australian record in the 50m butterfly, clocking 22.77 seconds. The 27-year-old said he is enjoying the event he favoured as a junior and believes there is room for improvement.
