Former England rugby international Lewis Moody has spoken candidly about his battle with motor neurone disease (MND), emphasizing the importance of living in the present and the urgent need for a cure.
Living with MND
Moody, who won the Rugby World Cup with England in 2003, was diagnosed with MND in 2024. The degenerative condition affects nerve cells in the brain and spinal cord, leading to muscle weakness and paralysis. Despite the diagnosis, Moody remains positive and determined to make a difference.
“The present is all you have,” Moody said in a recent interview. “You can’t dwell on the past or worry too much about the future. Every day is a gift, and I’m grateful for the support I’ve received from family, friends, and the rugby community.”
